The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed veteran defenceman Mattias Ohlund to a 7 year, $24.5 million dollar contract
Fantasy Outlook: After spending 12 years in Vancouver, Ohlund is taking his game to the sunny city of Tampa to mentor new draftee Victor Hedman. The 32 year old dman played in all 82 games last season recording 25 points, adding 105 PIMS and was a + 14 rating. Ohlund will remain a top four defenceman in Tampa and should see a slight increase in point totals.
The major factor in seeing Ohlund going to Tampa is to mentor Hedman. The Swedish pair will be anchoring the Lightning blueline for years to come and Ohlund is the perfect guy to show him the ropes.
Ohlund remains a fantasy option in deeper leagues as he should average 30 points from this point on in his career.
