Calgary has agreed to a 5 year contract with highly sought-after Defenceman Jay Bouwmeester. GM Darryl Sutter gambled on acquiring JayBo's rights at the draft for exclusive contract negotiations before July 1st. It paid off as Bouwmeester agreed to play for the Flames, in his hometown province of Alberta (oddly enough, he is actually from Edmonton).
Fantasy Outlook: At 25, Bouwmeester is just entering his prime. He already leads the league in average TOI and now will be surrounded by some serious talent in Jarome Iginla and Dion Phaneuf. Expect a big year for JayBo next season as he should challenge his career-highs of 15 goals and 46 points. Draft him in rounds 4-8 of a standard league and a little earlier in a keeper league.
